The PT and OT documentation for CPT 97530 – Therapeutic Activities has been updated to provide more accurate documentation of the level of assistance required by the patient for each type of activity.
With this update:
- Bed Mobility Training now has its own Level of Assistance field.
- Transfer Training now has a separate Level of Assistance field.
- The same Level of Assistance options previously available have been maintained.
- Providers can select a different level of assistance for each activity within the same note.
- For example, a patient may require Min assistance for Bed Mobility Training and Mod assistance for Transfer Training, with each level documented independently.
This enhancement provides more precise and activity-specific documentation of the patient’s functional performance, accurately reflecting the assistance required for each activity instead of applying a single general level across different activities.
