The selection of Responsible / Contact roles and relationships adjusts based on the patient’s characteristics and the options already selected.
- The role dropdown only displays options that can be combined with the roles already selected. School Contact and Care Coordination cannot be combined with Legal Guardian, Healthcare Proxy, Power of Attorney, Guarantor, or Involved in Treatment.
- Available roles also adjust according to the patient’s age: Healthcare Proxy and Power of Attorney are available starting at age 18, while School Contact is available through age 21.
New patient relationships have been added: Grandchild, Aunt/Uncle, Niece/Nephew, Cousin, Stepparent, Stepchild, Foster Parent, Caregiver, Teacher, and Social Worker. In addition, Domestic Partner has been renamed to Partner.
- Available relationships also depend on the patient’s age.
- When Other is selected as the relationship, the Specify Relationship field appears. The text entered in this field is then displayed on the card instead of “Other”.
These adjustments help ensure that only applicable roles and relationships are displayed for each patient while providing a more accurate description of each contact’s relationship to the patient.
