Signature requests that must be completed by someone responsible for the patient now use the information stored under Responsible / Contacts to determine who signs on the patient’s behalf.
- When a service, consent, form, or document requires a signature from someone responsible for the patient, a person in the list with one of the following roles is used: Legal Guardian, Healthcare Proxy, Power of Attorney, or Guarantor, starting with the primary person.
- If no one in the list has one of these roles, the signature is assigned to the patient.
When attending an appointment, the person who can sign on the patient’s behalf appears next to the patient’s signature, including their relationship to the patient and the Request Responsible Signature link.
- All signatures made on behalf of the patient are identified as Responsible instead of Guarantor, including previous signatures retroactively.
- If the patient does not have an email address or phone number, signature requests sent by email or SMS are directed to the person signing on the patient’s behalf.
These changes provide clearer identification of who is authorized to sign on behalf of the patient and use that person’s information when managing signature requests.
