The CMS-700 form has been enhanced to support electronic physician signatures directly within the certification workflow.
With this update:
- Physician certification now supports an electronic signature.
- The signature request can be sent directly from the form to:
- A company worker.
- An external physician.
- If no physician has been asked to sign yet, the form displays a notification indicating that a signature request has not been sent.
- Once a request exists, the signature status is displayed next to the physician’s name, making it easy to identify whether the signature is still pending.
- If the certification is marked as Not Applicable, the physician’s signature is not printed on the CMS-700.
- Even when the certification is marked as not applicable, the signature request is preserved, allowing it to be used again if the certification later becomes applicable.
This enhancement integrates electronic signatures directly into the CMS-700 workflow, making physician certification easier to manage and track without handling the signature outside the form.
